elproducts.com parked

I launched this information type site about one year ago under the elproducts.org domain name while I maintained a commercial site for my books at elproducts.com. But then the opportunity presented itself to partner up with my brother and take over Howtronics.com. I jumped at it and then found elproducts.com wasn't needed anymore so this site is now the home of the elproducts.com domain.

Howtronics.com (How-To-Electronics) actually started out as
beginnerelectronics.com and featured many of my board designs. I tried to team up with a group of EE type friends to build an online virtual maker space while I focused on writing but it didn't work. People were too busy with their own projects or just didn't share the same passion. So earlier this year my brother, who has several successful internet businesses, offered to take over the business side of Howtronics.com if I would be the technical support. I jumped at it and now Howtronics.com is the official reseller of my books and any hardware I create for my books and is the linked online store (its how I pay for this site).

This allows me to focus on posting helpful tips and tricks for the makers out there who like to work with Microchip PICs (which is what I focus on). The old ecommerce elproducts.com site made it very difficult to easily produce information the way it was structured. This site makes it easy.

I had a bit of a following from my days as a Nuts & Volts Magazine Columnist and from my books. Some asked me to post updates on what I'm working on or offer some helpful tips. I tried to do that with a newsletter at elproducts.com but it didn't really work out. You can see the results at the newsletter archive.

Turns out a lot of people didn't even know about this .org site until I changed it to .com (.org still points to here). Traffic has jumped significantly. So stay tuned for more as I try to expand everything here and if you have any issues with the products at howtronics.com or have suggestions for topics on this site, shoot me a message using the contact page.
